Paris MoU & Tokyo MoU launch of Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Safety Of Navigation

Further to our  Newsletter 174/17 dating back in June 12th 2017 regarding the Paris MoU press release for the conduction of a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on the Safety Of Navigation, the Maritime Authorities of the Tokyo and the Paris Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Port State Control, on July 31st 2017, announced the launch of the joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Safety Of Navigation. The aim of the CIC is to check the compliance with the applicable requirements of the SOLAS Convention, the overall status of the vessel’s navigation safety and the competency of crew involved in navigation operations. This inspection campaign will be held for three months, commencing from 1 September 2017 and ending in 30 November 2017. A ship will only be subject to one inspection under this CIC during the period of the campaign. PHRS shall launch a similar CIC throughout its classed ships in order to ensure that ships and crew members will be better prepared for the CIC. As such, the surveys scope on ships under PhRS Class which will be held as from August 3, 2017 shall include the examination of the CIC on Safety of Navigation.
